   Welcome.
   I'll just add that you should also check the baud rate on the TNC.  Some
TNCs have a set of DIP switches to set the baud rate. It needs to match the
baud rate on your Model 102.  And, while the PC/laptop was probably happy
writing to the screen at 9600 baud and faster, the Model 102 might be
happier at a slower baud rate. If you see it dropping characters, change
both the TNC and Model 102 to a slower speed and/or enable flow control
(either XON/XOFF or RTS/CTS depending on what your TNC supports).
