Back when I got my BlueM Bluetooth adapter (maybe even before that) I
began looking for ways I could use my Model 100 as a keyboard for my
desktop without destroying the M100 physically. I really wanted to be
able to connect it to my phone or Tablet wirelessly via the BlueM and
control it from my M100, basically as a bluetooth keyboard.

I had no joy.

What got me going again was the recent discussion of writers using the
M100. I would be willing to bet a lot of M100 users would love to use
the M100 to enter data into their Android tablet or phone. Just put the
tablet/phone in a stand in front of the M100, and type away.

(I just imagined another scenario I'd love to test; connect to my PC
from my tablet over the internet, and remote control it using the M100
as my keyboard).

A couple months back I downloaded Bill Redirect, a Windows keyboard
wedge that's supposed to let you use serial input devices in Windows
apps as HID input. I haven't yet had the guts to install it on one of my
Win7 machines, but I'm working up the courage (if I can get HTerm
working again).

While researching it, I came across several cable devices that seem to
do what I want... at a price I really don't want to pay. The cheapest is
a Bluetooth RS232 adapter that supposedly will connect to a Bluetooth
device and provide HID input, at about $49.

My thinking was to plug it into the OTG cable, plug that cable into my
tablet, and then connect via the BlueM.
The same people have an HID keyboard to serial cable for $99; still not
sure that would work with android and it's back to the old days of the
"soap-on-a-rope" I had with my Psion 3A.

So as I continued looking, I discovered that GetBlue offered "keyboard"
as a datasink. So now I'm hoping to try connecting my M100 to my Tablet
via GetBlue and hopefully use it as an input device. If that doesn't
work, or at least not as well as I would like, the makers of GetBlue
also have a program called "BluePiano". This specifically advertises
itself as a keyboard wedge, but the issue I have is that it seems a
virtual keyboard has to be open on the screen when you use it... kind of
defeating the purpose.

Here's a link to Bill Redirect's page, for anyone also interested in
using the M100 as a keyboard for their PC.

I'll keep people posted on my renewed progress.
