Do you have a copy of the DVI service manual (hopefully the link works): http://www.classiccmp.org/cini/pdf/Tandy/Disk%20Video%20Interface%20Service%20Manual.pdf The service manual has some operational descriptions of how the DVI is supposed to work for both the screen and FDC. There is also a very brief section on the protocol to get you started on your quest to reverse engineer the interface. In terms of the PI remember it is 5V intolerant. If you connect the system bus to the PI directly it will destroy the PI. The interface needs to have level shifters to convert from the 5V world of the system bus to 3.3V world of the PI. So it adds a little twist to the interface design.
