Things have changed. "Retro" is now cool; that's part of the reason
that I refer to myself as a *vintage* computer enthusiast. (The term
"classic" seems to mostly refer to big iron but it would also work in
my book). People with nostalgia for these machines and have more money
than skills up working machines quite high -- that's my I tend to bid
on "mostly dead" machines with things issues that I know I can fix.

Nah - it's basically a silent auction at that point. I prefer to bid
slightly earlier though since earlier bids take precedence. That's how
I got my 200 - sniper had the same price I did, but I was earlier.
