My goals are simple...have access to the files on the go via my computer or phone. The files are archived in lossless WAV and anyone that wants to convert them to lossy MP3 is welcome to. I'm not going to apply additional filtering and in my use case I'm not worried about the files size.
Link to WAV archive: www.sonore.us/m100 Jesus R ----- I played a bit with Audacity, and I have a couple of comments, wrt settings. 1) 8 bit vs 16 bit. If like me you are interested in the actual files, and size matters, then consider saving the file in 8bit format. this saves 1/2 the data. 2) filtering. Applying a low pass filter at ~18 kHz as a post processor to the captured waveform reduces peaking. This matters a bit - the software limits the peak to peak voltage to +/- 1V. Peaking reduces the average peak value that can be obtained.
