Nope, nothing special!

If your computer has a serial port, you can hook to it with a null modem
wired serial cable or a straight through cable with a null modem adapter.

A raspberry pi can absolutely be used as a TPDD service. I've done it. One
way is a with a usb-serial adapter, and above described null modem cable.
Or, you can use the Pi's built-in serial port. However, you need the pi
"hat" adapter to convert the signals from TTL level to RS232 levels.

If you use a Pi you can use either LaddieAlpha or DLPlus as the the TPDD
service.
