I've finish recapping my M100, and also replaced the thermistor that was fried. I didn't have the clock display/freeze problem since then but the contrast of my unit is still way to high and the contrast dial has almost no effect.
When I turn it on after a long break, the contrast is OK for 2 to 3 seconds before it goes to the maximum. I also tried to clean the contrast pot with an air can and some contact cleaner spray but it had no effect. My VEE is now at -5.00V, VDD is at 5.06V. Where should I look next in order to fix this problem? The service manual says "Check the LCD waveform" but I'm not sure what they mean by that... Eric
