That’s definitely special. I never knew Rick Hanson first-hand, as he had unfortunately passed away already by the time I joined the community. I have read some of his old posts and answers to questions, and they reflect his smart, humorous, and generous nature abundantly.
Nonetheless, seeing his business card puts a couple of things newly in perspective to me. First, what a great legacy he left with this group! Second, even his “old” posts that I’ve seen came many years after the prime time of the Model 100 and related machines. Almost without exception, I would bet very few of us work with these computers as our “day job” anymore. This hobby that we find utterly gripping and that fills us with so much delight and appreciation is, at heart, a passion for all of us and an often under-appreciated labor of love for many. That’s how it was for Rick and how it is still today for the community he helped form and nurture so caringly - we earn our living many ways, but we’re united by a love of these aging but still magnificent machines. Good reasons to always stay curious, live humbly, share openly, and treat fellow hobbyists with respect and empathy. Long live Rick’s memory and Club 100!
