G'day All,

Trying to work up a little proof of concept for work using the MT and
barcode wand. Am having a problem, I need to get function key input
while waiting on input from WAND:.

This works:

10 KEY ON
20 ON KEY GOSUB 100,200,300,400,,,,800
30 A$=INKEY$
40 PRINT A$
50 GOTO 30
100 PRINT "KEY 1": RETURN
200 PRINT "KEY 2": RETURN
300 PRINT "KEY 3": RETURN
400 PRINT "KEY 4": RETURN
800 END

This does not (assume OPEN "WAND:" FOR INPUT AS 1:

10 KEY ON
20 ON KEY GOSUB 100,200,300,400,,,,800
30 INPUT #1, A$
40 PRINT A$
50 GOTO 30
100 PRINT "KEY 1": RETURN
200 PRINT "KEY 2": RETURN
300 PRINT "KEY 3": RETURN
400 PRINT "KEY 4": RETURN
800 END

Program doesn't respond to ON KEY interrupt and seems to sit on line 30
until a UPC is scanned or ENTER is pressed, then dumps the ON KEY
presses if BREAK (Cntrl-C) the program. I have used A$=INPUT$(12,1) in
line 30 as well.

Am trying to read barcodes from a list to build a file of position
information for a merchandising reset team. Boss wants the team to be
faster and gives us paper list to work from. I can mod the position (PO)
and/or number of faces (FA) based on the UPC read, but am trying to
adjust the shelf (SH) via the ON KEY GOSUB interrupt to add/subtract 1
from the value of SH and display it before the UPC is scanned.

Ultimately this would be a great app for the team's phones, but I need
$200 -- which I don't have, to upgrade my IDE so I can use a library
that allows the use of the phone camera as a barcode scanner (WAND:). Am
hoping the proof of concept with the MT will get the boss to release
some funds or develop the app to help.

Anyone have any ideas how this might be accomplished through MT BASIC?
Thanks ahead for any help.
