One of the reasons BASIC came to be in such low regard was the proliferation of "gotchas" caused by variations in the language's implementation. Even within Microsoft's product line, which was used by everyone from A to Z. The ROMs (and RAM) were limited in space and sometimes a feature was left out in favor of some other feature, or tweaked to save a couple of bytes. So no, don't assume compatibility, maybe even if the author says his code is applicable for your machine. It's best to test. Or roll your own. How's that coming? -CH-
