Well, I finally managed to fix it tonight! I ended up soldering wires in, and I
left enough slack in case I needed to fix it sometime. Although I don't ever
want to open this thing again! It was an absolute nightmare! I'm sure someone
with more skill and experience in working with electronics could have repaired
it easily, but it drove me absolutely nuts. I almost gave up. I still can't
believe such a simple little part was such a headache! I was really worried
that I might have damaged something by poking around on the main board and
tampering with it so much, but everything seems to be okay. I went to BASIC and
wrote some simple little programs to test the computer, and it seems to be
working fine. I'm so glad it's working again!

Is either one end or the other still intact? Or might be possible to hard-wire
one end and leave the other connectorized so that the machine can be opened for
servicing. It's probably something that I could do, but I'd have to have the
whole machine to do it.
maybe someone has an idea for sourcing a new flat flex.

Hi,I just subscribed to this list, and I'm really hoping someone can help with
a problem I'm having with my Tandy 200 computer. I'm still a bit new to vintage
computers, and I'm getting in way over my head! I need a ribbon cable for the
display. The original one has given me a problems before, and now the
conductors inside finally broke. I have tried EVERYTHING I can think of to
improvise a way to connect the display, but I'm not having any luck! Does
anyone have a ribbon cable for the display, or would anyone be able to make
one? (I'd pay for it). I know that replacing the connectors so it could use a
more standard type of cable would be the best way, but my desoldering/soldering
skills are horrible. I would end up totally breaking the motherboard if I tried
to do that. I really love this little computer and want to get it working again.
If anyone can help, please let me know!
