I'm not sure how *correct* it is, but it's there.  I used to have a script
that would perform SPF verification - something on my "to be resurrected
one day" list.

Signing would be the next step in waving a chicken to appease the de-jure
operational shenanigans of the Google gods, which will change again whenever
they get their next non-publicly-documented idea.  At the end of the day,
they're not great Internet citizens.
