I had some custom made by a company in Taiwan, link below. After editing the 
video, I got to wondering how clean the alcohol was getting the contacts on the 
LCD glass so I took one to work to look at it under a microscope. It was not as 
clean as I thought. It looked rather smeared and there were marks where the 
original zebra strips were. 

 

I 3D printed co ‘U’ shaped clamps to hold the LCD assembly together so I could 
experiment without having to twist the metal tabs each time. I’m going to try 
cleaning the contacts with acetone, which made a visible difference looking at 
it under the microscope and see if it improves either LCD glass. My guess is 
that the battery corrosion damages the contacts on the glass as well. It will 
be fun to see if it helps though.

Thanks for posting the repair video.  I watched it in its entirety, hoping I 
never had to follow the procedures, which are way above my skill level.  

 

If I may ask:  Where did you obtain the replacement "zebra strips"?
