Well, it appears my 102 is functional after all. I cleaned it and
changed the batteries, with no effect, so I just put it away for several
months. This morning, with nothing else to do, I pulled the sick 102
back out, tried it again (still no joy), then removed the batteries,
turned off the backup battery, and removed the REX board. I was going
to just get rid of the 102, but for some reason, I decided to put the
batteries back in and try one more time, and voila! it worked. I now
have the REX seated back in the socket and that appears to work as
well. Now to update the REX software from 4.8 to 4.9, and reinstall my
ROM images.
Btw, the backup batter is back on as well.

Does this mean the internal Ni-Cad ran out of juice? If I leave it
alone for a while, will that Ni-Cad recharge from the AA's?
