I got about the same idea, except since I couldn't find one with a
parallel interface I got a serial/BT one with the idea to use an
Arduino Pro Mini to do the parallel to serial conversion.

The big advantage being that since there is software running on the
Arduino, I can do some interesting things like emulating the escape
sequence of the most popular printers of the time, or the special
characters of the M100.

But it didn't work on my first try and I kind of lost interest...

I'm still glad to see I'm not the only one coming with this idea. I
may try to look into this Seiko DPU-414 someday since it seems to work
out of the box ;o)
