One simple thing is just the memory battery needs to charge before the
machine works. If it's been turned off a long time, then the memory
battery needs to charge up for a few hours first. Or at least say 30
minutes though that may not be enough. It charges any time it's plugged
in to the wall whether turned on or off, or any time there are new AA's
installed, tuned on or off.
And of course, if it's not a new replacement battery along with the
recap, then maybe it's just dead, and that will keep the machine dead.
Though of course, since you did that much invasive work, it is obviously
possible you introduced a short somewhere or installed a polarized cap
backwards.

now have no functioning M100s; that I killed them.
A few hours later I took it off the shelf... still the battery light
flicker, but, I accidentally pressed several of the keys.
Whenever I press a key, I get a beep.
Can anyone with more experience advise me on how to further investigate
what could be wrong with my machines? At this point, I'll settle for one
working.
