Portable Computing Magazine experimented with using 3of9 barcode to save
program listings for a time.

I have attached Version 2.1 of their reader program as an "ASCII BASIC"
file that you can transfer to the Model 100/102, or type it in manually.

The magazine never published an "encoder" program that one could use to
save one's own programs to paper. Of course the dot matrix printers of the
time couldn't print the barcode lines as compact and legible as the
magazine could typeset them, making use at home not very practical.

I believe they also encoded certain characters to have a different meaning,
and were converted by the reader program.

The program works well on the few magazine issues I have, but the
"abrasive" nature of Radio Shack's barcode wand can wear the magazine pages
out pretty quickly.
