Some people have been transferring/translating BASIC from one system to another 
and you may have gotten one of those faulty translation versions.  

 

I don’t know, I’m just offering one possible source.

Walt, this isn't a CP/M scenario; I patched the M100 main ROM to support 
NSC800, but I am having these errors in M100 world not CP/M.

So that BASIC command is M100.

The TinyBASIC in the SWTPC emulator has math errors … a version of 
MBASIC/BASIC80 on my Altair 8800 has math errors.  

 

I think IF somebody has a BASIC that works correctly, you should grab a copy of 
it and destroy the faulting BASIC.
