You could try a little Deoxit on the connector. If that does not do the trick, I do have reproduction cables available. It is not uncommon for the original cables to break at the drive end. Note that the cable also includes the RS232 level translator circuitry, it is not just wire and connectors.

Things only seem to work when I gently put a little upward pressure on that connector with my finger. If anyone knows of a good way to clean the connector, please let me know.
