Hi,

Fire Retransmission is:

There’s a fire … the building alarms go off and they alert the alarm company …
the alarm company verifies the fire while ReTransmiting the alarm to the
closest or appropriate fire station.

The fire stations have these 1880 Gamewell machines that make dots on a tape
that correspond to the building address, so the fire crew knows where to go.

The digital system I wrote/made for the TRS-80 Model 100 computer allows the
alarm company people to type in the name, address etc. where the fire is, but
also sends the code via telephone lines to the fire station TRS-80 Model 100
computer that uses the tape control signal to trigger the Gamewell machines to
print the codes at the fire station.

Takes two TRS-80 Model 100 computers to complete the circuit.

I hope somebody with better eyes might be able to copy the two programs in
TRS-80 Model 100 computer BASIC and post the two programs for people to play
with. Maybe email me copies for my website too.

If it is worth preserving, I highly recommend also uploading the software and
documentation to the Internet Archive. (Archive.org). All you need to do is
create a free account.

The Internet Archive also runs the Wayback Machine, which has already archived
brainless.org, so theoretically your files may already be saved.

http://waybackmachine.org/brainless.org

However, that's not a great way to preserve anything because it will be a
needle in a haystack. Creating an account and directly uploading will let you
add in the keywords and other metadata so that people will actually find your
programs when they search.

What is "Fire Retransmission"?

P.S. here's an example of what software preserved on the Internet Archive looks
like:

Hi,

Back in the 1980s I wrote these programs to be the first digital fire
retransmission system for Bay Alarm Co. in Oakland, CA.

Modern hobby stuff (Arduino, PICAXE, Raspberry Pi etc.) can be used to make a
miniature Gamewell receiver.

It would be nice to see something like that setup in a museum somewhere and
surely, the software should be preserved besides on my website which will
probably go away after I die.

Maybe somebody can post it to the Club100.org too?
