just as an example,

Following the official process, the extra fees required on a $75 CAD REX#
is $31.87 CAD just for duties and border brokerage. Actual shipping fees
are in addition. This is based on an HS code 8473.30 "memory module".
Maybe there is a better HS code.

The extra cost, time etc., plus the fact that there is electronic tracking
of a commercial transaction, carries with it additional burden.

It isn't clear to me that working with someone In the USA as a distributor
really improves things. I still need to declare what it is, and prepay
duties based on the declared value. At least for USA sales I don't need to
collect sales tax and remit to the Canadian gov't.

I'm looking at creating a shopify online store, because it looks like
they can automate some time savers for me.
- order acceptance
- payments and duty collection and remittance
- label creation and export form creation

Anyhow, regardless, costs are going up not down. I am assuming people will
happily pay these import duties. But maybe it is a deal breaker for some
of you.

This feels like a retirement gig to me. Good thing I am retiring soon.
