Thanks Steve, this is the info I needed.

Since it has been a bit since my original email, I've done alot of reading and consideration and direction changes and dot dot dot - Nice long weekend.

My road to this point has been a revolving door of ideas that I won't get into for fear of boring everyone.

My 200 will continue as it is without mods. I will try to get a backpack when they're available for sale again. And hopefully someone in the US will be willing to sell a spare rexcpm.

While I have a number of 100s in the den, I just bought a supposedly functional 102 tonight on ebay for a decent price. I will inspect the internals once I get it. I intend to use it with monitor output as I've seen demonstrated on youtube and get it online too. Since the cpu overclocking mod seems to do no harm, I will look into that too.

I'm currently designing an ascii theme on my bbs. Have to work on modifying many of my custom tools to work properly on the platform.

And I'm designing a text editor door for my bbs so I can transition my writing from the 200 to my bbs.

Alot of work to do

Hi Daniel,

Couple of comments-
* no idea if overclocking the 8085 is "bad"; it certainly never gets warm.  All
I
have noticed is that sometimes some software cannot run at 2x speed.
* the MVT100 serial port solution for 80 columns only works on M100/T102 at this
time.   There is no software that makes it usable on T200.
* CP/M has a lot of appeal if you like vintage computers.  Again, only for
M100/T102 at this time.

cheers

Last night, the old battle axe complained about my late night glowy
face. I was watching mod videos from a youtuber who doubled the
processor speed of his 100 (extensive mod), built Geoff's vt100
interface board for monitor output, added wifi, added another wifi to
his scanner serial port, added memory, added cpm (ive seen cpm before
but never knew what it was until this vid). I dont think it was all
on the same m100, but still an impressive amount of modification. He
also showed that the 100 supports 80 columns if it outputs on a
capable display, which is a huge interest of mine since I do an
enormous amount of writing on my 200. And, well I am a whore for 80
columns. So, I am gaining interest in frankening my device. I never
plan on selling it (MINE) and dont mind working to reverse changes if
any particular mod turns out needless or too difficult. The biggest
interest I have is not damaging my precious 200.

After watching all the videos, my interest is growing. Honestly, I
know almost nothing about the platform other than for my use case. I
got the 200 from someone on this list a number of years ago and still
using the same old rex it came with. I dont really understand it all
too well other than it uses its built-in memory to expand storage on
      the device.

      I have a few questions:

      1. Is the mod for doubling processor output bad for the long term
      health of the CPU?
      2. Has anyone in here tried the bodge mod to add wifi to the unused
      (for me) serial port?
      3. Can someone describe their experience with the VT100 monitor
      solution?
      4. Can someone please describe their use case for CP/M on their model
      T?
      5. Any idea when backpacks will be available?
