A broham asked since I'm interested in old computers, if I also like the
tape players? He bought a box of goodies at a garage sale and in that big
box was a smaller box with a CCR82. Thought I'd want it. Hell yeah I said.
So he pulled a small, dusty box from his hatchback and handed it to me.
I took it upstairs to my den to find that it is obviously a victim of an
attempted restoration. Whoever it was seemed to be bored or realized he bit
off more than he could chew. Something I would've done.
Still have the serice manual from before and a long road ahead of me.
From initial appearance the caps on this guy look okay. PCB looks good, no
corrosion or signs of battery leakage. Alot of loose parts, hoping nothing
is missing.
But I know those belts need replacing and by a stroke of luck found a bag
of assorted tape belts, hoping one will fit.
I had purchased one of these a number of years ago for a really good price,
and once the belts were replaced, a local guy offered an insane amount for
it. Figured, if the gods wanted me to have that cash, who am I to turn it
away.
*sad face*
Anyone have experience in archeology? Hoping the service manual will help.
Got fresh wire in stock that I can use to reattach everything. The existing
thin wires are dry as hell and screaming to be replaced, at least for the
ones that came from the battery terminals (theoretically).
Hoping the service manual has measurements for the belts.
/sigh
