Hi Ed Only by importing the project structure does Eclipse receive the Maven "nature". So initially you're importing a Maven project into a plain Java project. What you're looking for is to select the project, right-click and do "Update Maven project". This will (re-) apply everything defined in the pom.xml, and afterwards you should have your desired structure.
