Ilyes, if you want and if you can identify a standalone USB camera of
the right type, I'll buy you one.

Hi!
I'm glad to hear that! Now you're the second person to confirm that it's
working. In order to get that branch (m5602-ov9650-2) to evolve, we need
one or more committed developers (who have to own the proper hardware)
to continue working on it. You know, I wrote that code blindly on a
remote machine (I don't own a laptop with a 0402:5602 and thank you
again Rémi) and all of it is just based on a trace that Jérémy provided
me with. I'll be more that happy if someone steps up to take over the
development of that branch and to explain to him/her what remains to be
done and answer any related questions. The driver itself is a piece of
cake, one has just to pay attention when writing the code and to always
handle all the possible cases (including failures).
Concerning the grainy black and white picture, it's normal. What you're
viewing is the non-processed raw bayer picture just as it was received
from the webcam. In order to get the final one (with colors) we need to
interpolate between the pixels to recreate the missing R, G, B
components. The picture is dark because of a lack of lighting or bad
settings for the exposure, brightness registers. It's alright.
Waiting for the community response and commitment.
Best regards,
Ilyes Gouta.

Hi Ilyes,
I tested the driver from svn revision 106.
It compiles fine and livecam gives me a video. I have to adjust the
pitch to 648. The image is black and white and very dark.
I also had a system hang (while adjusting the pitch), but no further
information (log entries).
My system information:
Cam: integrated in a Asus PW201 LC Display (ID 0402:5602 ALi Corp.)
Ubuntu 7.10
Hope, this helps a little. Just ask for more information, if needed
Best regards
Mik
