Ok, reloading the kernel modules did the trick for ekiga. Still not for vlc. For kopete I suspect the issue is elsewhere as kopete doesn't see the webcam at all. For kopete everything looks like there is no webcam connected to the system. I was just wondering if anybody on the list had a similar issue and did find how to solve it.
