Hi,

first of all I would like to thank you for your
promptly reply, your help and your time.

I have already checked your web site at
m5.eecs.umics.edu, actually that was my starting point
about m5 simulator, slides at ISCA 33 conference,
i.e., tutorial, held in Boston on 18 of June. I wish I
could be there, but unfortunately USA is far away from
my country and the journey expenses are very high for
the people from this part of the world where I live.

I have downloaded all files that I found at source
forge web page where m5 simulator is put:

1.m5_1.1.tar.gz,
2.m5_system_1.1.tar.bz2,
3.Python-2.4.3.tar.bz2,
4.Python-2.4.3.tgz,
5.scons-0.96.92.tar.gz,
6.swig-1.3.29.tar.gz,
7.linux_m5-2_6_8_1_diff,
8.mkblankimage.sh,
9.tutorial-M5,
10.isca_pres,
11.caecw03.

I installed m5 simulator on 2 PC machines under
Slackware 10.2 and Fedore Core 4 Linux operating
systems, and the installation passed well according to
instructions that I found on your web page and in
README files inside archive m5 files .

You mentioned disk images and kernel binaries, did I
downloaded them with m5_system_1.1.tar.bz2 file or I
have to download some other files?

At your web page is stated:

Full System Benchmarks
We have several full-system benchmarks already up and
running. The binaries are available in the disk images
you can obtain/download from us, and the .rcS files
are in the m5/configs/boot/ directory. To run any of
them, you merely need to set the TEST environment
variable to the name of the test you want to run.

Does this mean that I have to ask for more m5 files
etc?

I hope there are some student book or notes about m5
simulator, how to install it properly, how to use it,
how tomake changes, etc, as I already asked you for
that. I found in the Internet that m5 simulator was
used for student exercises and seminar papers.

I would appreciate very much if you could help me to
learn as soon as possible how to use this simulator
properly so I could use it for my research.

Once again thank you very much for your help.

Kind regards,

Milan Radulovic
