I know of two people (myself included) who frequently compile on OS X
10.4. We both use gettext from DarwinPorts (MacPorts) without
problem. So I don't know why you're having an issue, but if you could
try passing -L/opt/local/lib to the compiler or setting
DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH (as oppopsed to LD_LIBRARY_PATH).

Now I know I have libintl.h on my system (its in the gettext's
macports directory at /opt/local/include). Is there any way to
find out where scons is looking for the file? Has anyone else
run into this problem? For info, my python version is 2.4.3
(from macports) and scons is 0.96.95 (compiled myself).
