I have to agree that the mail art network I
participate in now is very different from the one I
started with in the early 90's--but I'm also a very
different person from the one who started
participating. So I think that the changes we
perceive over time are at least partially so different
because the personal filter of experience is changed.
But the ebb and flow of the network certainly has
something to do with it all.
I remember some old timer mail artists telling me way
back then that the best time for mail art was over,
but for me that wasn't true at all! It was all new
and exciting and even the less exciting pieces were
interesting to me because it was the first time I had
seen them. Now, over 13 or 14 years later, I've seen
some things MANY times...some I sort of like, some
have me yawning. But, to me, the network is still an
exciting, inspiring group of generous people.
Each individual has her/his own individual experience,
right?
