The Yerlesim art/cafe in Turgutreis Bodrum (Turkey) requests participation in an exhibition on the theme of "yerlesim." "Yerlesim" is the Turkish word for "settlement" as well as for "housing". The Bodrum Peninsula, Turkey's premier tourist destination, is the site of several settlements from antiquity. It also has major problems in terms of housing, namely, environmentally unfriendly development and a real estate market that has escalated out of control; the two phenomena are not unconnected. All artwork received will be exhibited by Yerlesim from December 24 through January 24 and auctioned off in a silent auction. All proceeds will be used to support environmental preservation activities on the Bodrum Peninsula. Entry Guidelines: Entries must be no larger than the size of a sheet of A4 (8.5x11) paper. All artwork can be mailed as a postcard or sent inside an envelope to the following address: Yerlesim art/cafe, Gül 3 Sok 11/1, Turgutreis-Bodrum, Mugla, Turkey.
