just read this in a John Waters interview (Uncut, January 2006 issue) and wanted to share it with you:
Q: Finally, any brand-new obsession to declare? A: Recently, it's been more about using ideas for my art. I did a series called "Return to Sender", which involved fooling the post office into making art for me. I'd write letters to dead celebrities and wait to see what came back. Like I sent a letter to JFK and it came back with "deceased" written on it. Just in case I didn't know what "deceased" meant, they wrote "dead" in brackets. Very, very thoughtful of them. --- A dream-team that was never meant to be, would have been for me a John Waters /Ray Johnson joined show (10 letters each: spell the names).
