Back from Venezia, am I, and a very good time it was.
Many thanks to Tiziana BaracchiI and Giancarlo Da Lio
for a wonderful afternoon at their home for a perusal
of their archives and a visit to the "Tree." I made a
patata rubber stamp for them (on my web site) and some
photos were take, and a collage was mailed (The Paris
Correspondence School page). Gracious hosts, many
thanks... check them out if you are in that corner of
the world.

My time in Venice was interesting because mailing
something from the big post office at the San Marco
sestiere side of the Rialto was challenging. "You
can't mail that," I was told again and again. "Oh, yes
I can," I said. "I'm an artist."

"Oh, you're an artist, well then, okay." I had to use
logic.

Another time I was told: "I can't stamp that," when I
wanted the stamp on the image side to be cancelled.
Soon 10, 12, 14 people behind me started to make
noises. I mumbled something in English to my postal
friend that I can't print here, and skipped over to
another window and slipped the artworks under the
counter. "Can you cancel those and mail them for me?"
I asked, leaving. "Grazie..." Her only question:
"Is there enough postage on them?" "Si si si..."
They arrived yesterday.

I also dumped a few funny blue cardboard cards into
post boxes with a 1 eurocent stamp on them and my
address rubberstamped on the back. Not even the size
of a post card. These had no trouble making their way
back to Parigi! The Italian post seemed to like this.

Best,

MR
