When I was a child my favorite color was magenta and my second favorite color was turquoise. Then I felt guilty that I liked magenta better than turquoise and worried that turquoise's feelings were hurt (really!) Later I came up with the idea that my favorite color was really purple, because when I mixed turquoise and magenta that was the color I got. I was pleased with this solution for a short time, but realized soon enough that I really loved magenta best, after all.
