If you're downloading from bookshare you have to download to lyour PC
at this time since there's no android app for DAISY files. After you
download you unzip the file just like you would if you were going to
read it with a DAISY reader. Then if you look in the folder where the
files of the book are, usually there's any where from 8 or 9 files
up, there's one than ends with XML. Click on that and it opens in
your browser. Then do a select all (control plus A) Then copy it to
the clip board (control plus C) Then open note pad or word pad on
your PC and paste it there (control plus V) Save it. Then you have to
copy it to your phone. There's probably already a Books folder on
your phone Put it in there or create another folder for your books
with whatever name you want.
It sounds like a lot of steps, but it's very quick when you're used
to it. I can download a book unzip it and vonvert to text in just a
minute or so. I usually do several at once so when I connect my phone
to my PC I can copy them over.
In the programs I mentioned, most give you an options of finding the
books on your SD card and arrowing down to the Books folder or
whatever folder you have your books in. Then just click on the one
you want to read.

Hi Denise,
This sounds good.
A basic question. If I log into Bookshare.org on the phones web
browser...how do I download the book to my phone and how do I specify I
want
a text file? How do I retrieve the book from the phone for later reading?

I've tried the followi9ng programs with some success. But all of them
it seems like just quit after a while So you have to start the
program over. Most start where you left off. Sometimes it starts at
the beginning again. These are programs that read text files. I
download bookshare books and convert them to text files then they
read fine in these programs.
Speak text Easy
Read To Me
PDF Reader- (this reads text files also)
Droid Talker
Moon Reader Pro- (with this one, If you have MA as your screen
readerwhen the book , the first screen will read with both MA and
your phones default TTS. MA quits shortly, though then the phones TTS
continues reading and it's fine after that. The way to start the
speech with moon reader is to shake the phone. Sometimes you have to
shake it pretty hard to get the speech going.)
These are the ones I've had most success with.
