Yes and if you are driving, the navigation app works well and can tell you time
and distance to destination if you have explore by touch on and ICS. In the
lower right hand corner seems to be where that information is presented.

Navigon, a paid app, can help you some, but it is more difficult to use and
costs significantly more than free. It is useful in areas where you have no
cell coverage. If you travel regularly in areas with no network coverage, you
may need navigon, as its maps are stored locally, but if you are in a populated
area where network coverage is reliable, navigation app works great.

The google navigation app, which is part of google maps will provide
directions, for telling where you are, check out the sendero look around app.
