What you can do is once you’re on a phone call, and the phone is pressed to
your ear… at that point you should be able to raise the volume on the
handset.
As long as the screen is off when the phone is pressed to your face, it
shouldn’t hang up on the caller.
Here’s something silly that i had to do, but it worked.
I called my cellphone from my home phone, and once having the phone pressed
to my ear, I use the volume key to raise the audio on the handset. See if
that would work for you as well.
