Allow me to answer all your question
1. Upgrading: this generally do not delete user content but it should be
checked from Device manufacturer release notes and what they have to say.
2. System volume is the Ringtone volume so that should work. The simplest
way to adjust your ringtone volume is to go to MA > Settings and use the
volume keys to adjust the ringtone volume. Please note, just being in the
setting menu and using the volume keys adjust the ringtone volume and not
the media volume at which MA speaks.
3. Email: the notification are generated by the system email application and
not by MA email. But if you want to save battery and data, you may turn off
the sync.
Lastly, if you face issues, submit help desk ticket using the link in
signature line.
