I think the issue might be that you need to bring up the system's call screen during the call, by pressing the menu key. Then you can use your keyboard to enter numbers and symbols.

I notice that when I am in a call and an automated system asks me to enter a number followed by pound sign, I can enter numbers, but can't enter pound. Unfortunately, some automated systems are not satisfied without that pound sign. The question is What can you do in these situations where asked to enter a pound or a star in the automated system? I can't use a lan line, because I don't have one. Thank you for your timely help in this matter.
