Hi, Not that it is not upgradable - Motorola did say they will upgrade their phones soon; it is just that there is no date set when Droid 4 will receive Android 4.0 upgrade, for which the hardware is capable of running (however, I think it would be better for Motorola to upgrade to jelly bean (4.1 or something) later). Also, the thing about ROM/firmware upgrades is beyond users' control - once an OS distribution is released, hardware vendors need to assess various features the new guy offers and adopt them to hardware, culminating in testing and final release (and this translates to long waits between upgrades). To use SSH, unless I'm mistaken and if there's an app for it, you need to "root" it (make it run outside of secured environment which means using unauthorized software, ROM's to even messing up the phone if not done properly). Accessing command line interface for Linux (using BASH or other shell environment) is something that normal users doesn't have access to when using Android unless special tools are used (SSH would be useful for system programmers). Hi Joseph: Thanks for your information. The Droid is a newer phone, but from what you have said, it may not be upgradable. I'm looking for the newest phone I can get with a physical keyboard. If the phone is not upgradable, that is a concern to me. I'm on a month-to month with an unlimited data plan from AT&T right now. So this the perfect time for me to switch carriers if I want to. \Right now I have an N86 with the KNFB reader, which I will keep around for now. I would like to be able to do email and sure the Internet with my phone. I'm sure there is a way on the N86, but it is very cumbersome. I would also like to be able to listen to IHeart radio and use other apps. I was wondering if anyone has used an accessible app for telnet/ssh. If I could find a phone that would do this, I would purchase it in a New York minute! Any and all thoughts welcome. Thanks. -- _______________________________________________ ma_mailing mailing list [email protected] http://list.codefactory.cat/mailman/listinfo/codefactory.cat.ma_mailing _______________________________________________ ma_mailing mailing list [email protected] http://list.codefactory.cat/mailman/listinfo/codefactory.cat.ma_mailing
