No, I am sorry, I probably was not clear enough. Let' try again.
  If you want to ssh to the unix host, you don't need to jailbreak, there
are apps available, which will let you to telnet or ssh to the unix or linux
host from the iPhone and those apps are accessible.

  If you would like to ssh to your own iPhone, you need to jailbreak. After
jailbreaking you basicly get the unix host in your pocket.
  Otherwise, again, if you just need to ssh to the unix host, it will work
out of the box.

Just want to make sure I get this straight. Do you mean that I would have 
to jailbreak the devices if I wanted to either telnet or SSH into a Unix 
host from an Android device or IPhone? This is sure disappointing, since 
that might be something programmers would want the ability to do with 
their phone. Nobody has created an app for either OS? I thought they had 
for Android, but it isn't accessible.
