Hi,

I've got an Xperia Mini Pro and up till now I've mainly been using
Mobile Accessibility but want to make more full use of the phone.

At the moment wat I'm wanting to do is send an SMS longer than the
amount of characters allowed for 1 message to certain phone numbers
not in my contacts. I can't do this in MA. I can't do them in the
native messaging app already installed on my phone either because I
can't figure out how to write numbers as recipients instead of
selecting contacts; and if I add them as contacts in MA they don't
show up in the native app. I also don't know how to add contacts
natively or whether this is accessible.

Has anyone a suggestion of a messaging app I could instal which I
could use easily to send messages to numbers not in my contacts?

Also, more generally, are there any articles or resources I could use
which summarise the screen reading capabilities of Android currently
and help me work out whether I can/whether I should upgrade Android on
my phone, whether/how to use Talkback instead of MA etc? I read quite
a few messages on this list, and I like the Blind Tech Support
podcasts I've heard, but often the messages here are quite technical
and I don't know how far back in the podcasts to go to get what I
need, or whether the older podcasts would still be relevant now. I'm
quite a technical person but I'm just behind in knowing what's going
on with Android - I don't know, for example, how to find out what
version of Android I'm running or how this affects Talkback. And what
about Speel? I've heard of that but don't know if people still use it
and have never tried it myself. I installed Eyes Free shell a few
months ago thinking I'd give that a go but could never figure out how
to use it.

Any pointers on messaging apps or a quick catch-up about versions of
Android and what can be done, how to get started with Talkback etc
gratefully received.

Thanks,
Catherine
