I wonder if it's related to this one that was just fixed for inclusion in MAAS 2.2.2. [1] (2) That's strange then, because I would expect that commissioning would time out after ~20 minutes and deployment would time out after ~40 minutes, if you are using the latest version of MAAS. (Which version of MAAS are you running?) It might be helpful to post the event log for the machines having the problem. The contents of /var/log/maas/*.log could also help diagnose the issue.
