Hi Daniel,

MAAS 2.3 has not changed at all the way it configures IPMI. MAAS continues
to do it the same way it did it in previous releases.

There are many reasons why this could fail; for example newer hardware  can
have a default password policy that is non-IPMI compliant, or other issues
could have affected the ephemeral environment.

I would recommend you take a look at the cloud-init logs of the ephemeral
environment to determine why it is failing, and I would suggest you file a
bug report, which is where we will be able to better help you.
