Peacefull Action

I would like to share my thought about Buddha-Bar. Some of our friend's
suggestion regarding using Law on Buddha-Bar case has been done by Anti
Buddha-Bar Forum (Forum Anti Buddha-Bar - FABB).

At first, I was disagreed with the protest of Buddha-Bar. I thought, it is ONLY
a name and a statue, why do we have to protest it? However after seeing other
friends who fight very hard to reject Buddha-Bar, I tried to see it from their
perspective. And end up admired them, because they know they do the RIGHT thing
and it is according to their heart.

The rejection of Buddha-Bar's name is not about Buddhist getting "mad", they
just "disagree" and feel that it is "in-appropriate" if the Teacher whose
teaching they diligently follow is being used for a place that sell alcohol,
whilst in Buddhist Five Precepts suggested refraining on consuming anything
that is intoxicant. If Buddhist let this happen, it will give an impression
that Buddhism has double standards or hypocrites.

Despite whether this action is being politicized or not (and I don't give a
damn about politics!), we have to appreciate what our friends have done. They
have followed their hearts despite what the result will be.

Now back to the protest. There are friends who disagree about it and suggested
that we should use Law on this matter. I agree! Unfortunately, we have to admit
it that the law in our country is still far from "perfect". In here who has the
power or money most is still win. If we want to compete on these things, for
sure we will lose. That's why Buddhist held this protest by gathering mass
because that's the only thing that we still have.

Based on my experience last Saturday on joining the anti Buddha-Bar protest,
was very positive. I should say that the protest was a Peaceful Action and did
not look like a protest at all. There was no yelling or calling names. We even
only have 50 police to guard us and we talked and took pictures with them.

However with the Buddha-Bar Management, even though Buddhist demand for the Bar
to be close, they still open as usual. Believe me, I went there last Saturday
just want to know what we are talking about. I've got the chance to talk to the
waiter who's proudly said that the protest has no effect on their operation.
They even planned to open during lunch time whilst we had the Peaceful Action
that afternoon - what's an irony.

We can tell here how much power and money the owners of Buddha-Bar have, even
though a lot of people has protested this place, it still can operate normally.

So my dearest friends, if the power that we still have is the people that loves
their Teacher, not power or money, what other way that we should do besides
drawing people's attention so our voice can be heard?
