Hi Folks,

Just thought I'd share this finding in case anyone else has been experiencing
the issue.

On the day of Lion's release I upgraded my late 2010 MBA from Snow Leopard.
While I experienced some issues, the biggest problem I had was that my system
froze with a "Kernel Panic" six times on that first day after upgrading to Lion.

I read through the system logs and noted that they mentioned a bluetooth
driver, so I did some googling and found several threads discussing Kernel
Panics that were happening under Snow Leopard on various mac models when the
batteries in an external bluetooth device ran too low. While I'd never had a
kernel panic with SL on this system, one of the discussion threads mentioned
that the issue was continuing under Lion.

I had paired my Magic Trackpad with the MBA but hadn't touched the MT that
first day. I went into the bluetooth menu and checked the MT's battery status
and, sure enough, it was at 10 percent. I swapped in a fully charged battery
and never received another kernel panic on that system.

Last week I took delivery of one of the new Airs -- an 11 inch i7 with Spanish
keyboard. After using this new system for a week, I hadn't experienced any
system freezes or significant issues. Then yesterday the system froze solid 3
times within an hour and could only be resurrected via hard power off/on. There
were no kernel panics associated with these freeze-ups, but as part of my
troubleshooting I checked the battery levels of my Apple Bluetooth keyboard and
Magic Trackpad. Sure enough, the battery level in the keyboard was in the low
teens. I swapped the batteries and have not locked up since.

As always, YMMV.
HTH,
Bryan
