As a comparative rookie with the Mac I hesitate to offer tips as you probably know this. anyway in case it is useful. I have been experimenting with the free beam Word Processor. Beam actually performs better so far with word tables than any other Mac Word Processor that I have used. Whilst it does not recognise them as tables it does at least read the contents of the tables than simply say embedded object like Nisus Writer Pro does.
Given that a free wordProcessor can apparently achieve this it is a bit odd that other programs cannot at least get this functionality I am therefore looking at extending the functionality of Beam. . I could not find an easy way to insert the date in Beam . I however, have apple scripts enabled and can use right option T to get voiceover to announce the date and time. All I have to do then is press Shift VO C to copy the last spoken text into into clipboard and the current date and time is then available for pasting into Beam. A limited tip I know but I thought I would offer it anyway.
