Hi Paul,

I got the following to work, but VoiceOver went silent on me, and I had to
toggle it off and on. I'm only just getting used to Mail in Lion.

1. Press Command-Option-F to go the search bar in the Mail Message viewer.
2. Type in the name of the person who has sent you mail, e.g. I typed "Paul
Hopewell".
3. VO-Down arrow. VoiceOver may become sluggish here, depending on the size
and contents of your mailbox. VoiceOver should say, first, "People", then
"Paul Hopewell" and your email address.
4. Navigate to the messages table. The "From:" column should be populated with
the name you typed in.

As I said, VoiceOver stopped talking once for me when I did this. I had to
toggle it off and on. When I went back to the search field (with
Command-Option-F), it announced, "From Paul Hopewell menu button".

HTH. Cheers,

Esther
