Yes indeed, every since tiger, finder had/has the capability of
creating zip files. You simply highlight a file or folder, then
right click (or in our case vo-m) and one of the options there is
create archive. This by default creates a zip file of the file, or
the files in the folder with the folder name as the basename of the
zip file.
