I too was rather surprised about the dropping of support for the original IPad
i IOS6, given that they will continue support for the aged 3GS. Then again,
Apple have never been known to give much of a fig for legacy anything. So I
suppose the surprise should be that they're stilll supporting the 3GS, not that
they're dropping support for the IPad. I own an original IPad, and I certainly
would think twice about sinking big bucks in to another one if this 2-year
product cycle is going to be Apple's norm for IPads. Admittedly, I bought my
IPad after the 2 was already out and prices on the original had dropped a lot.
But even at that, I'd have expected to get another year out of my original IPad
before being tossed off the upgrade bus completely.
