hi Esther Essentially then it comes to the same thing. Virtualisation seems to me to be the best solution in order to make a bad thing usable unless or until they produce a native CoCo compiled version for Mac OS X so that it can run in the native environment.

For example, the freeware alternative to Microsoft office products, Open Office, has both an X11 port and a Quartz port to the Mac. Only the port that uses the Quartz interface can be accessible to VoiceOver. Both X11 and Quartz contains the information on how and where characters and other elements get drawn on the screen. X11 is a standard that works across many operating system platforms for performing these operations, but Quartz is only a Mac system platform. X11 has no hooks in it for accessibility with VoiceOver because it long predates it. In some sense the port to OS X via X11 was probably easier, because many operating systems support X11. HTH.
